Cistus Design, with principal designer Sean Hogan, offers planning and design as well as consultation, for gardens ranging from residential spaces to large, public gardens and commercial spaces.
We also enjoy developing or enhancing a vision for larger spaces such as botanic gardens and arboreta.
We revel in the details of design, working with wide-ranging plant palettes of varying color, structure and texture to match and enhance each space.
Working with West Coast or Mediterranean settings to woodlands or lush tropical areas, it is our pleasure to bring to life that special wish for, say, winter flowers, year-round fragrance, or the wonderful gift of a beautiful view from every window...

Meet Sean
Sean Hogan, principle designer, author, and Cistus owner and founder, specializes in public and private garden design, as well as planning and public space planting design.
An avid plant hunter and collector, Sean's passion has been the introduction of new and appropriate plants to Western North America, and specifically, the popularization of under-used and unknown plants for summer-dry climates.
